Elections 2020:
Controlling Chaos
A new book by Kim Wyman, the nationally recognized “Elections Voice of Reason”
Kim has been managing elections for over 27 years. She has overseen 120 elections in Washington State. As many now know, Washington was one the country’s first states to conduct elections entirely by mail. This book explores voting in a pandemic, voting by mail, cybersecurity readiness, and the 2016 Russian interference operations directed at U.S. elections.
Voting by Mail
This book discusses vote-by-mail models in use across the country. Vote-by-mail systems are the most accessible and secure way to vote. The ballot chain-of-custody extends from your hand, through the post office, directly to election officials. While the Internet can't be secured - your ballot can be.
Voting at Home
This book was written as many Americans wished to learn more about voting safely during the COVID-19 crisis. Voting at home is, by far, the safest way to cast a ballot. Absentee/mail-in voting is also the most inclusive way to vote - eliminating the need for voters to stand in lines. This book also discusses the “path of the ballot,” helping readers understand how our election systems work.
Russian Interference in U.S. Elections
Multiple reports have revealed that Russian military, intelligence agencies, and government sponsored organizations attempted to hack into all 50 states in the 2016 Presidential Election. This book will discuss these modern day asymmetric warfare operations aimed directly at the heart of our democracy. These attacks have been directed at our elections offices, election equipment vendors, politicians and political parties, and politically-minded social media users. These types of attacks are the newest generation of warfare.
